Ethical Jewelry by Sahasa

I am so excited to tell you all about Sahasa, a company that designs safe, organic, and ethical jewelry. The necklaces are made out of cotton fabric and thread into chunky statement pieces. The necklaces are baby-friendly, so they are perfect for mothers who have toddlers who like to grab on to jewelry.

Sahasa, which means courage in Hindi, is a supporter of gender equality by helping to improve the lives of less fortunate women in India. The pieces are designed by ethical jewelry artist Tess Freund, and then bought together by a small group of women in India who set their own wages and work in a clean, safe environment. ethical jewelry jewellery sustainable fashion sustainability daisy eco eco-friendly environmental ethical ecofashion blog blogger bloggersThe company is a true ethical brand–promoting love, hope, and empowerment to women. Their fair trade initiative represents the hope I respect so much from ethical, eco-friendly businesses.

What a beautiful thing it is to wear something on your body that represent kindness and fearlessness? This piece was made by women who are given respect and a fair wage. This is such a contrast to typical stores where so much of our clothing is made in sweatshops by poorly-paid workers in unsafe working conditions. I love wearing something around my neck which embodies goodness in the world, and a consciousness towards the earth. Basically, this necklace has good vibes, and I am all about it.

A percentage of sales from Sahasa goes to the Mehera Shaw Foundation Trust (MSFT) . The MSFT is a non-profit with a mission to implement sustainability in the workplace by placing a focus on cradle-to-grave models that foster ways to be kind to the environment. They specifically work with seamstresses in India by using a teaching approach to improve environmental standards within the sewing processes. So. Awesome.

I was attracted to the bright neon-like color scheme of the three strand Het necklace, which I am wearing now. This necklace represents love and is made GOTS certified organic cotton and dyed with low impact AZO free dyes. The necklace came in this sweet box, perfect to gift to someone you care about.

I love to pair the necklace with a simple tank, like I did here. With a pair of jeans any outfit is still so interesting and complete when topped off with a Sahasa necklace. Since the piece is so different looking I had a couple of people at my office ask me about it! We talked for a moment about how the necklace is organic and safe, and I got to share my excitement in wearing something that is made from natural materials. It is fun to wear something that you are proud of from an eco-friendly business. It is a pleasant feeling to wear ethical jewelry that is safe to you, your baby, and is kind to the environment.
