Nontoxic Nail Polish in Terra Bella Box

Nontoxic Nail Polish in Terra Bella Box

This past month’s Terra Bella Box came with margarita scented sugar scrub, a lotion bar, nontoxic nail polish and a super pigmented lip-gloss!

Body Scrub

This Body Scrub in Margarita Sour by Skin Fix smells amazing; I wish you could smell it too! It’s so yummy and fun to pamper yourself with a product that has a fun, playful scent. It makes me feel like I’m on a little vacation, even if just for a few seconds. The scrub buffs away dead cells lessening the appearance of dull skin. The scrub is made of Pink Himalayan Salt, sugar, shea butter, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, and essential oils. The Himalayan Salt is ground very finely, and combined with the sugar, it leaves a gentle, slightly abrasive scrub. In the past I’ve used Epsom salt scrubs and coffee ground scrubs, but this formula is my favorite because it is gentle enough to use on my face.

Also, I’d like to point out on how well this scrub works! When I shave after a scrub my legs are so smooth, and sometime you can literally see the dead skin cells rub of my body. Despite its gentle formula, I had skin cells removed leaving fresh baby-like skin the first time I tried this skin fix.

Lip Gloss

Next product I’ve been loving is the Lip Polish in Bahama Mama by Parlo Cosmetics. I am such a green beauty fanatic, but I haven’t found a really pigmented gloss for my lips. For the first time, I’ve found it, and I am so happy about it! This color looks amazing; it’s so pigmented, fun, and matches my skin tone really well. It comes in a squeeze up tube and glides on easily without feeling sticky. Also, the polish is 100% natural and is an amazing ecobeauty gloss to transition to if you love a bright lip.

Lotion Bar

Next we have the Aloe After-Sun Organic Lotion Bar in Pineapple & Lillikoi by Sarah’s Sweet Scrubs. This lotion comes in a pocket-size tin. The ingredients, including coconut oil, olive oil, beeswax, and Hawaiian-grown essential oils are all-natural, handpicked, and organic. To use, I rub the lotion between my hands and massage it into my skin. It melts into the skin offering moisture to dry, cracked areas.

Nontoxic Nail Polish

Lastly I tried the 5-Free Nail Lacquer in Island Sunset by Ellison’s Organics. This nontoxic nail polish is formulated with organic essential oils and natural colorants. Ellison’s Organics works to be “5-Free,” which means that the polish is free from formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, and camphor.

In college I took an ecotoxicology class which examined the effects of how certain chemicals in products can effect human and environmental health. For a research paper I decided to understand the effects of toluene, which is a common ingredient in nail polish. Toluene can cause neurological damage with high repetitive dosage. Therefore, many companies are eliminating it completely from their nail polish formulas. It’s great to be introduced to companies like Ellison’s Organics who makes a traditionally “chemically” product into something organic and safer to use. Also, I’ve been wearing this shade for three days now, and it hasn’t chipped! It applies in a beautiful, light pink matte finish. I don’t have many polishes that dry matte, so this one’s definitely a keeper!
