Colorful Floral Dress

I talked about a special phenomenon in my Bohemian Skirt post where sometimes I feel truly beautiful and myself in an outfit, and this piece definitely yields that magic. The dress was $25, marked half off for a final price of $12.50. I am very attracted to bright, floral patterns–they always catch my eye and I seem to gravitate them whenever I’m out shopping. I really enjoy wearing bright funky things because it makes me happier and makes life fun! We only have one life to live, so let’s be as expressive as we can! Sustainable Daisy: thrift shopping upcycling sustainable fashion recycled clothes ecofashion picture imageAlthough I have been popping into secondhand stores my whole life, I like to think that my skill of thrifting is enhancing. I find it a lot easier to find cute things due to my own personal experience of trial and error. I also find myself having a much different mindset when it comes to shopping; a mindset where I do not need to remind myself to be conscious of, but one that is slowing developing into my subconscious. What i mean by that is… I truly do have a love and excitement for buying sustainably. Whether that means buying from an ethically sourced company, swapping clothing with your siblings, or purchasing clothes at a thrift shop, understanding the value and impact we have on the environment is powerful. If you realize that clothing is useful, beautiful, and worthy though multiple uses, you are helping to break a barrier of unnecessary consumerism and resource extraction. Utilizing pre-worn, recycled fabrics, or picking up pieces that are made of organic, sustainably-sourced resources is a quiet but strong force in shifting the world’s view towards sustainable fashion. I find myself looking not just for fun and colorful dresses at thrift stores, but I also seek interview attire, workout clothes, and gifts. It’s a lifestyle that my life has easily welcomed and I’m so happy that my goal of showing how effortless it is to be environmental by shopping secondhand not only inspires my readers, but has also changed routine in my daily life.

  1. Very pretty! Thanks for stopping by on my blog the other day, nice to see another fashionista on WordPress. 🙂 Shall we be good sports and support each other by following each other’s blogs? 🙂

  3. Such a pretty dress! My mom used to thrift shop all the time! I think that is where us kids got a lot of our clothes from! I know what you mean about just feeling awesome! I think that for me it is that when you wear certain things, you realize you are dressed the way all the women used to dress! Dresses! Skirts! Fashion before we had jeans and shorts. So that every girl would be in a pair of shorts or jeans. I don’t really think that is unique.
