Last summer I traveled to Europe and spent a few days in Paris. When I was abroad, I bought this cheerful shift dress at a vintage thrift shop for €10.

The puffed sleeves and ombre floral pattern makes this silky piece unique. I like to show my curves, but a simple boxy-framed dress makes me feel really casual-cute in a relaxed way. I originally wore this dress with a leather belt to cinch in the waist, but the non-formed fit has started to grow on me. Shift dresses are timeless and classic, and I think they allow you to have an impressive look while oddly still showing that you’re not trying too hard at all (which can be difficult, but wonderful to achieve).

I decided to loosely braid my hair and pair it with some beige booties that I ran around Europe in, so I felt playfully in touch with my Scandinavian roots. Reminiscing of the time I spotted this dress on a rack of luxurious vintage pieces and buying it from a charming little shop keeper at such an adventurous time of my life makes me really happy; especially when fantasizing of the life of the French woman who wore it before me. It may sounds overly romanticized, but the act of borrowing and reusing is very beautiful to me.
