OOTD: Silk Blue Maxi Skirt

It has illustrated gold and bronze ribbons that flow randomly down the piece with diamonds scattered around its negative space. The bottom trim (not shown) has an interesting old fashioned clock design that covers the entire hem. I paired it with a long gold chain with bright green bead accents that I also bought thrifted for $6. I think it’s a really interesting, mature outfit, and the skirt’s design in particular makes it very unique. I’ve seen similar designs on clothing recently, particularly jackets with diamonds and exaggerated, flashy images of gold embellishments. I think the type of current designs I see in stores coheres with an urban, playful, confident image youth preceive of the glamour of wearing diamonds, but while hustling around the city (that all might be a stretch, but that’s the connotation I’ve received from it, and I sort of dig it). It’s kind of cool to have old fashioned images of intricate clocks at my hem which reminds me something from the Victorian Era, yet I wear it as a 23 year old in the city, running errands, or grabbing drinks. It’s a fusion of old and young, rich and reality, and I love to rock that mix. I’m assuming my skirt was made a few years prior, yet it fits in a current trend which is a cool thing about thrifting and reusing clothes–styles have shown us time and time again that they will always, one day, resurface!
