Eco Sky Blue Headwrap from Barefoot Belle with Vintage Jewelry

Sustainable Daisy: thrift shopping upcycling sustainable fashion recycled clothes ecofashion picture imageThis lightweight cloudy blue hair wrap was handmade in California with recycled vintage fabrics. I found this hairwrap from Barefoot Belle, the ethical Texan clothing company I happily discovered a couple weeks ago and once again, I love this piece! I have been big in hair accessorizing, may that be adding braids, curls, or hair wraps. This wrap, coined as a sky turban on their website, is stretchy and of a cloth like material that doesn’t snag my hair. I really like this hair wrap because I usually wear these during the fall or winter for extra head warmth, but the sky pattern makes me eager to incorporate it in the spring and summer months. Barefoot Belle has lots of different colored hair turbans, so check them out or give them a follow on Twitter or Instagram for sales and updates!

I paired the sky turban with acid washed jeans, a plain white longsleeve, and a vintage silver necklace I found at a secondhand shop for $16. The necklace is lightweight, well made, and falls at the perfect length to give my simple outfit some personality. I think the dangling metal pieces gives it a festival vibe, which I love. I love finding little treasures like this while thrifting!

For the first time in a long while, I organized my room and closet. I don’t throw away or give up things easily. Even if I hadn’t worn a dress in a couple years, I usually make up some reason why it is useful and would be handy someday. Sustainable Daisy: thrift shopping upcycling sustainable fashion recycled clothes ecofashion picture imageI decided to donate my clothes and sell a few at my local Buffalo Exchange and I had an epiphany…
Like my necklace, which I love dearly, someone decided to donate it! And as for my closet cleanout, someone will stumble onto my clothing and like it (or love it!) and wear it. Although I couldn’t find a use for all my clothing, someone, somewhere will. Ah, what a beautiful thing it is to share, borrow, give, and donate. Although this is not a perfect loop, let’s be very realistic (because that’s what being an environmentalist is about). Many clothes are recycled in other ways or sent to landfills if never picked up or bought. But, I’d encourage you to appreciate your clothing, buy well-made, long lasting items, donate your less used, stay positive and support ethical companies like Barefoot Belle. I think it’s possible to play with fashion, feel amazing, and lower your carbon footprint. Let’s try it together. ✿
