Repurposed Billboard Bags by Remember Me Green

Repurposed Billboard Bags by Remember Me Green

I absolutely love the concept of repurposing something that would otherwise be discarded. When you’re able to take something ordinary and craft it into a stylish work of art, it’s kind of miracle. I know that might seem like an overstatement, but the imagination, heart, and will to transform and repose something from discarded materials is such a beautiful thing to me. It’s cool, sure, but also taps into a kind of karma that makes the world a better place.

When I received these repurposed billboard bags by Remember Me Green in the mail a few weeks ago I think my heart exploded. They are so beautiful, chic, and fit perfectly for my lifestyle!

First and foremost, we’ve gotta talk about how these are made!

How it’s Done

After their ad time has expired, billboards around New York city are taken to the Remember Me Green factory where they are cut, cleaned, steam-pressed and sewn together into designs. Because of this, each bag is incredibly unique. This concept allows you to take a piece of New York with you and incorporate that creative energy into your outfit! RMG explains, “Our team recognizes the creative energy that goes into these billboards and give them a new life once they are taken down.”

I love how an advertisement can have a life and purpose, then be torn down and transformed into a beautiful bag! The story behind every tote is so beautiful and purposeful.

Recycled Billboard

The carbon footprint on these bags is substantially low, since materials are collected locally in New York, and no resources are extracted to create the bags. Secondly, I’ve noticed that this bag is sustainable in its function.

For example, twice last week I was running errands and spontaneously went to the grocery store. I usually have a tote bag rolled up in my glove box, but last week it was missing. Having this recycled billboard bag, however, I was able to use it to carry my groceries out with me!

It’s also been my go-to for carrying my laptop because it’s so spacious. Although my laptop is heavy, it doesn’t feel like the traps are going to wear down like when I wear some other bags.

Details

Another cool thing about these repurposed billboard bags is that the material is very durable. It is a waxy texture that’s waterproof, so smudges can be easily wiped off. This is a great outdoors beach bag because sand and spray can be cleaned off easily without damaging the look. The black bag is essentially perfect for the beach because you can throw 5 towels inside! Also, it fits pretty much all my laundry inside, so I only have to make one trip to the washer (small victories!).

Each bag as a cotton rope handle and wine bag’s handle is made from a vinyl repurposed billboard. I love the Remember Me Green logo on the front of the wine bag because it’s super cool and tasteful, but it also encourages the start of a story. I am reminded of the sustainable purpose behind the bag, and it sparks a conversation from others on how it’s a green product!

Recycling Program

A super cool thing about Remember Me Green is that if you’re a company with a retired vinyl billboard ad you can recycle it with them! By minimizing your waste with Remember Me Green, you can have your advertisement recycled into bags and Remember Me Green will feature you on their blog! Is that not the absolute coolest thing ever? Imagine you are a fashion company and you paid for a billboard to showcase your brand. Then, later, have your ad made into a bag? That is the coolest thing I’ve heard all week!

  1. Now THAT is a very fun & creative means of repurposing! Not only that, but they’re far more valuable now! Ha! 😉

This is entirely off topic, but – those blue shoes. I need those. Can you share where you purchased them? Thanks a bunch. 😀
