Flannel OOTD with Feminine Detailing

Flannel OOTD with Feminine Detailing

thrifted flannel ecofashion environmental ethical fashion sustainability thriftingI usually avoid flannels because they tend to be masculine or unisex, and I really like expressing my feminine side when I dress. However this flannel has a flowery detail, happy yellow trim, and ruched-like sleeves which gives this checkered piece a lot of character.

I bought this flannel at an OC thrift store for $1. Yup, that cheap! It had a string to tie around the back into a bow to emphasize the waist; a popular look circa mid-2000s. I like the more loose draped look, which is also more in trend, so I snipped the tie away. I paired the flannel over a lacy black romper and black ankle boots.

The size of the flannel is a large, and I am on the petite side, so it may actually be designed as juniors or children’s blouse. Surprisingly, the proportions lay in a flattering way on my body type. Another unusual tip I’d like to add–just because an item is not traditionally designed for you, doesn’t mean you can’t tweak it to suit your style. I’m always surprised what size adjustments I can make!
