Faux Leather Purse by Canopy Verde
Owner Linda Wong is big on minimalism and conscious consumerism. She explains that she doesn’t like owning a lot of ‘stuff’ in general. What she does own, she wants it to be well designed, timeless, and as practical as possible. With that mindset she created Canopy Verde, a sustainable and vegan handbag line that emphasizes the coolness in earth friendly accessories. Her designs are a mix of Danish design and hip Booklyn-esque style with a healthy, happy energy. I’m happy to have collaborated with her to review an awesome faux leather purse and wallet!
To make an eco-friendly handbag line, Linda partnered up with a friend who owns a factory, and chose methods to create the bags without creating lots of waste! As a cruelty-free activist, she also makes sure to never use any material affiliated with animals and keeps it vegan.
Vegan Leather
Canopy Verde’s vegan leather is made from polyurethane. Polyurethane is better for the environment because it doesn’t leach ample amounts of toxins into the environment unlike some other leather alternatives. Also, polyurethane is biodegradable, too! How interesting it is that the same awesome bag you carry around could be tossed into your compost bin?
Organic Cotton
As we all know, cotton is a readily used resource. Although natural, it uses nearly 10 billion pounds of fertilizers and pesticides each year to grow. When these chemicals leach into water sources, a yucky process known as eutrophication occurs. This basically makes water sources abundantly grow smiley green algae which prevents animals to thrive because oxygen, space, and sunlight are compromised. Canopy Verde does their best to use organic cotton, which means it’s grown without chemically fertilizers or pesticides.
Eco-friendly Dyes
Another great way Canopy Verde strives to be green is by utilizing eco-friendly dyes which are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). This means that the dyes used meet the regulated standards of toxicity, metal content, and biodegradability. Who said responsible dyes can’t make color pop?!
Crossbody Bag
The first bag I’m featuring is this beautiful Willoughby Cross body!
It’s in five colors, but I like the coral-red for a pop of color. The faux leather purse has an adjustable strap, wood zip pullers, and a bright orange lining.
I find this faux leather purse to be great for traveling or short errands, because it’s small but can still fit the essentials, like your wallet, keys, and phone.
Wallet Clutch
The other bag I am loving is the Delaney Wallet!
This wallet can be as casual or as classy as you make it to me. I absolutely love the deep royal blue color with the orange stitching.
It’s a super slim envelope wallet which still holds a ton of cards and cash. It also has a hidden magnet at the peak which gives the clutch a snug latch.
The wrist strap is detachable so it can be easily worn by itself or placed inside a purse! Do you own any faux leather or vegan purses? What material are they made of?
How cool! I’ve been looking into vegan leathers and have been deterred by their not being sustainable. I thought I was just going to have to stick with second hand!
Ah I’m so glad to have introduced you to one that can do both. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by!
